Another Window Cornice in the Almost Finished Room

I'm finally finishing this little room.  It was once my sewing room, then a study for the kids.  Now it's my meditation room!

The last part needing to be finished is the window.  I thought I might leave it but, it was just too bare for me.

I decided on a wood cornice like the one my husband made for our living room.
This one was a massive beast!
Turns out that men buying molding are much like a woman buying clothes.  What do you think of this?  How about this combination?  Is this too short?  Does this make my ass look fat?  Okay not the last one, but Brian was driving me nuts with the many kinds of and possible positionings for molding.  Here is what he decided on.  Brian is the woodworker and I'm the painter.

He's getting fancy here with 3 pieces of molding at the top!
The finished product!

And here is where I'm was open to opinions.  Originally I was thinking of doing curtain panels, too.  I made them from this fabric.  After holding them up to the window, though, I thought they might be too much.

 What do you think?  Just the cornice or the panels under the cornice? UPDATE:  Finished product!

  1. WOW!!! A whole room for meditation!!! Love your comments about men in a hardware store. I like the curtains to add colour. Do you have a nice view outside? Will the curtains block the view?

    1. I do have a nice view, so the curtains will stay to the sides. I'm just about to post a photo of the results!

  2. I don't think it makes his ass look fat at all ... ROTFL!!! Pretty cornice - I think it would probably be prettier with the panels - maybe you could post photos of both so we can decide for you and harass you until you are assimilated ... I mean until you decide? :)

    1. Actually when I was standing behind Brian while he put up the cornice tonight, I noticed that it actually DID make his ass look fat! I'm not going to tell him. I might want to have him make another one of those in the future!

  3. Seriously, I have not a clue about cornices making your butt look fat !!!!
    Butt, I digress- my sewing/quilting room is almost complete and now what to do with two windows? Also have a slider to outside, butt it doesn't need covering.
    I'll be watching to see what you decide on.

    1. Butt you never know if your window dressing will make your butt look fat unless you have an honest friend. Butt fortunately for me, my friends know the value of a white lie when it comes to my butt;-}

  4. I like the idea of both, cornice and curtains. A bit of pretty fabric should add a bit of softness and and colour... I agree with Pam :)
